How to set up Single Sign On

Benefits of Single Sign On

Single Sign On removes the frustration users feel when they can't remember their username and password. It means they do not have to wait on password reset requests. Overall it improves the user experience.

The single click of Single Sign On speeds up the time it takes to login to The Happiness Index platform and boosts productivity.

As well as benefits to our users there is a major benefit to THI of using Single Single On. This is the reduced admin requests related to password issues, such as password resets and locked accounts.

There are two parts to setting up Single Sign On. Part 1 is within The Happiness Index Platform. Part 2 is with the company you wish us to use Single Sign On for, e.g. Google.

Part 1: Please obtain your SAML2 credentials from your IT team and enter them into the Single Sign On page. To do this:

  1. Click on ‘Settings’ and click on ’Single Sign On’.
  2. Make sure the Status box is showing ‘Activated’.
  3. Enter in your SAML2 credentials, which are: Login URL, SAML2 Identifier (Entity Id), Logout URL, Fingerprint (SHA1)
  4. Click on ‘Update’.

Part 2: You will need to speak to your IT team and ask them to set up Single Sign On with The Happiness Index via a SAML2 integration. They'll require the details contained in the THI Settings section of the Single Sign On page. To get these details you need to:

  1. Click on ‘Settings’ and click on ’Single Sign On’.
  2. Share the following THI Settings with your IT team: Identifier (Entity Id), Reply URL (ACS URL), Login URL

Please note: To take advantage of the Single Sign On feature a user must have had a profile created in The Happiness Index platform first.

What should you do if Single Sign On is not working?

  • The most likely cause is that the SAML2 details have been entered incorrectly. Please check the details you have entered are correct.
  • If the details are correct please double check you have the correct SAML2 details from your IT team.
  • Please ask your IT team to check the SAML2 integration with The Happiness Index has been set up correctly.
  • If you are still experiencing issues please get in touch with us and we'll be happy to help.
